Client:Meguro Gajoen Co., Ltd.
Open:February 2025
Location:Kyoto
Content of work:Design / implementation design / construction
Category:Bridal
Okakuen is a facility located on the grounds of Nanzenji Temple in Kyoto, featuring “Kanshokyo,” a tea ceremony-style building constructed during the Taisho era, and a 1200-tsubo garden designed by the seventh-generation Jihei Ogawa.
Aiming to create a space that harmonizes with the original charm of “Kanshokyo’s dignified presence and the garden’s beautiful natural surroundings,” the design incorporates elements reminiscent of a traditional Japanese residence, such as a Japanese-style truss ceiling, oboro shelves, and transom screens. This is further enhanced by plant displays, custom-patterned carpets inspired by the shadows cast by plants, and large windows that capture the beauty of the changing seasons.
