Osaka-Kansai Expo 2025: “Iida Group x Osaka Metropolitan University Joint Exhibition Pavilion”
Client:Iida Group Holdings Co., Ltd.
Open:April 2025
Location:Yumeshima, Konohana Ward, Osaka City
Content of work:Implementation design / construction
Category:International Expo Pavilion exhibit
The theme is “Health of People, Society, and the Planet.” We were in charge of the design and construction of the exhibition space in the pavilion, which serves as a venue for the announcement of joint research and development between Iida Group Holdings and Osaka Metropolitan University. As the first experimental industry-academia collaboration pavilion at a domestic international exposition, the architectural design was handled by world-renowned architect Shin Takamatsu. Nishijin-ori textiles from Kyoto’s Hosoo Co., Ltd., founded in 1688, were used for the exterior walls. Inside the pavilion, efforts toward realizing sustainable “future-type housing” and “urban development” are introduced through large LED screens and giant dioramas. Furthermore, interactive exhibits are presented, focusing on “artificial photosynthesis technology,” which aims to create energy using “carbon dioxide,” a key to energy self-sufficiency in housing.
